The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a high alert till Monday for five regions of Tamil Nadu Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Puduokottai and Nagapattinam after weighty downpours on Thursday beat the southern piece of the state, causing extreme waterlogging. 

Streets and rails in the five regions were lowered, with the conclusion of schools and universities reported as numerous local locations and villages were likewise intensely immersed. 

On Thursday, Thoothukudi recorded 25 cm of downpours till the evening, with substantial downpours proceeding to lash the locale on Friday morning. Flights were diverted to the adjoining Tiruchirapalli air terminal because of helpless perceivability. Train administrations were additionally hit as tracks were lowered.
