No Omicron Case in TN

 No instance of the Omicron variation of COVID-19 has been identified in Tamil Nadu till Wednesday, said Health Minister, Ma. Subramanian in Madurai on Thursday.

None of the 477 travelers, who were screened on appearance from high-hazard nations till Wednesday night, have tried positive, the Minister said, in the wake of assessing the new COVID-19 screening offices set up at the Madurai global air terminal, following the out-break of Omicron in some countries.

"The Health Department acted quickly after finding out about the new variation of COVID-19 having contaminated somewhere in the range of 60 people in a couple of nations," he said. Expressing that the new variation has now spread to 11 nations including Europe, he said all global travelers coming from these high-hazard nations were being screened at the air terminals.
